Creative Crime Writing Courses

Our programme of crime writing courses for the 20th - 22nd February 2026 includes tuition for authors of all levels.

Not only will delegates be taught some of the essential writing skills necessary to produce a novel, they will receive tips and advice on editing, goal setting, preparing to pitch their novel to an agent or publisher and they will be given a unique opportunity to have a five minute pitch session to a publisher.


All of the creative writing courses will be led by established authors or industry professionals.

To date twenty attendees of Crime & Publishment have gone on to sign publishing contracts.

Our programme of crime writing courses for the 20th-22nd February 2026 includes:


  

  

  • Inside the Criminal Mind – Mari Hannah: Multi-award-winning Mari Hannah will draw on her years of experience both as an outstanding author and as worker in the criminal justice system to discuss the workings of the criminal mind.


  • How Cosy Can You Go? – Flic Everett: Acclaimed cosy crime author Flic Everett will share her knowledge of the cosy crime scene and highlight the differences between cosy and regular crime novels.


  • When Crime Meets Horror in a Dark Place – Michael J Malone: Best-selling author of the chilling Annie Jackson mysteries, Michael J Malone will showcase the methods he uses to blend horror and crime together to such great effect.


  • Synopsising Your Novel and Perfecting Your Pitch – Ellen Gleeson: Bookouture Publishing Director Ellen Gleeson will guide attendees on how to craft a compelling synopsis and make a perfect pitch.


  • Building Your Social Media Presence – Noelle Holten: Social Media Manager for Bookouture & Second Sky and acclaimed author Noelle Holten will share tips and techniques for creating social media content that gets you and your book noticed.


  • Twenty-One Books = 21 Lessons – Graham Smith: Traditionally and digitally published for 21 books plus having been unsuccessful with others on the submission trail with his agent, multi-published Graham Smith will discuss the lessons he’s learned about the publishing industry.
