Our programme of crime writing courses for the 21st - 23rd February 2025 includes tuition for authors of all levels.
Not only will delegates be taught some of the essential writing skills necessary to produce a novel, they will receive tips and advice on editing, goal setting, preparing to pitch their novel to an agent or publisher and they will be given a unique opportunity to have a five minute pitch session to a publisher.
All of the creative writing courses will be led by established authors or industry professionals.
To date eighteen attendees of Crime & Publishment have gone on to sign publishing contracts.
Our programme of crime writing courses for the 21st-23rd February 2025 includes:
- What Lies Beneath – Professor James Grieve: Professor Grieve will share the knowledge he’s garnered during a lengthy career as a leading pathologist. He’s advised many crime authors on the more gruesome aspects of their novels and it’s a great chance to learn from him.
- From Page to Screen – Samantha Lee Howe: Award-winning screenwriter and author, Samantha Lee Howe will highlight the differences between writing novels and screenplays while also sharing her expertise.
- Back in the Day – Douglas Skelton: Top historical author Douglas Skelton will share tips and trick on writing novels set in the past and how he gets those all-important historical details right.
- Synopsising Your Novel and Perfecting Your Pitch – David Headley: Literary agent and founder of DHH Literary Agency plus owner of Goldsboro Books, David Headley will guide attendees on how to craft a compelling synopsis and make a perfect pitch.
- Managing and Protecting your Author Mindset – Michael J Malone: Crime and Publishment favourite, Michael J Malone will share tips on dealing with negative reviews, imposter syndrome and other challenges that stop writers from writing.
- Getting your Manuscript Submission Ready – Graham Smith: With over 20 books published, Graham Smith has lots of experience of edits and he’ll share his experience so you know what to look for when preparing your manuscript for submission.
